After last year, we are ready for 2019.  We embrace the new and all that comes with 2019. We begin again with patterns and create our routine. First we will eat, drink, sleep, work, play and repeat.  In other words as adults we eat to live.  Similarly, newborns simply spend time eating and sleeping. A diet of breast milk or formula and then on to puree of fruit and vegetables.  Lastly there is the addition of starches and protein.

The first moments with mom and her newborn is indeed a happy time and bring joy to the entire family. No matter how many children you have, giving birth is a new experience each time around for the mom.  A new mom is learning how to care for herself and this new life and at times it can be emotionally and physically challenging. The first 100 days is a critical time of bonding between the mom and baby as feedings, diaper changes, baths, sleepless nights, older children, life etc become your new norm. Depending on the delivery type, expectations may need to shift a bit, the period can be a bit worrisome wanting everything with baby to be just right.

New beginnings are fun and exciting, mom and newborn are moving forward. My first child was a boy, labor was not extremely long, he was born at night and he slept for more than 10 hours after birth. Never wake a sleeping baby my doctor said and he was right. I wanted to breastfeed, latching on took sometime but I persevered because it was important to me. I was fortunate to be able to just focus on the baby while other household chores were taken care of and I certainly enjoyed swaddling baby and holding him close to me. Our bunting bag revisits my first few months as mom where I wanted to carry and not strap my baby. Hands wrapped about the baby while being swaddled, this maybe viewed as a leisure activity but it also serves as great bonding between mom and the newborn.

Fall has embraced us and the time of giving coincides with the season. We’ve all become accustomed to the money factor; however, money unlocks just a small factor of the multi layers of support. Giving is certainly apart of living, all things would die if only receiving a wonderful friend would often share.  Simply put, giving of thanks is not excluded from that statement.  We all can find something at any time and every time to give thanks. We are at times challenged to do so but allow the sweet song from a bird singing in the tree, a newborn baby waking from a nap with a stirring, a call from a family or friend, a smile from a stranger as you move along your day.  How about a sunrise, twilight, the setting of the sun or the whisper touch of a falling leaf.

Let’s allow the simplicity of fleeting moments to move within us and offer the opportunity to give thanks.  Let just simply allowing the giving thanks to reign supreme as you gather during Thanksgiving to share laughter, fun, food, and family.  Enjoy!

We are pleased to celebrate these two seasons with hues that compliment current hues in our Signature Collection.  As students return to school after a restful and relaxing Summer, we focus on the sailing of leaves as they hit the ground, temperatures that require a jacket as a layering piece and our toes that moved freely were now called to be contained in a boot or we lovely refer to as a bootie or to others a “moon shoe”.

Fall foliage invites us to take a long drive to pick apples, pumpkins, eat apple donuts and drink cider.  Local farmers are delighted to share their crops at local markets and we see the green leafy vegetables as well as our seasonal fruits and veggies.  As we approach November we are thinking of all the things we are thankful for and the holiday season officially begins with a gathering to give thanks for all of the bounties we have received.  The year moves quickly to a close as we welcome Winter and anticipate the first snow fall.  Soon we will begin to hear carols being sung, Handel’s Messiah is being performed, a plea for peace around the globe while children are excited and wait patiently to receive wonderful gifts from family and friends.

Our new hues remind us of café whether caffeinated or not; meadow we can still run to and fro; ash great paired with peach; funfetti is a gender neutral color that makes for a fun hospital photo; carmel you can imagine running off the sides of that decadent chocolate cake; Azul claro as we look up at the beautiful blue skies, peach makes us think of calming cup of chamomile tea;  lovely to think of plum, a regal touch for our little princess; garden ombre remind us asters blooming, evergreens  and pumpkin motivates us to start baking, feel free to add a topping of whipped cream if you so desire.
